The School venue is Villa Orlandi, located in the heart of the historic center of Anacapri, on the enchanting Island of Capri, at via Finestrale 2. Villa Orlandi is a seventeenth century villa which has recently been restored by the University of Naples, in rigorous respect of the original architecture.
It is built on two levels with a rustic colonnade entrance, like many of the gardens of Capri. The entrance drive to Villa Orlandi is lined with a classical colonnade. The interiors are characterized by elegant details in stucco, typical of Capri’s 18th century homes.
Today Villa Orlandi houses the University of Naples’ International Center of Scientific Culture, and its rooms are used to host seminars and academic meetings of international importance.
The villa is surrounded by a nice park and includes all essential facilities.
Getting to Capri from Naples
In Naples, there are two piers from which ferries to Capri depart: Molo Beverello and Calata di Massa. The Molo Beverello pier is located in front of Maschio Angioino in the Piazza Municipio; the Calata di Massa pier is located further east (to the left, facing the sea). The distance between Molo Beverello and Calata di Massa is 1 km on foot.
High speed ferries (hydrofoils – “aliscafi”) depart from Molo Beverello, and ferries and slow ferries (“traghetti”) from Calata di Massa. The trip won’t take more than an hour.
Please, notice that, when seas are very rough, high speed ferries can be suspended and only ferries and slow ferries can continue to run.
